Project in a Box: Medication and Falls

This “project in a box” contains everything needed to provide in-service training of healthcare providers serving the community and institutional-dwelling geriatric population. The program focuses on why medications are a contributing factor to falls and reviews some of the implicated drug classes. 

This includes a short, easy-to-follow PowerPoint® presentation that reviews the following topics:

  • Health and economic impact of falls
  • Factors that increase risk of falls in older adults
  • Medications as a contributing factor to falls
  • Properties of specific medication classes
  • Evaluation of patients for fall risk
  • General Interventions to prevent falls
  • Interventions specific to medications
